G3258 from A10 7850k

I was wondering whether it's worth it to go from the A10 7850k to the G3258. I primarily game on my pc. If I get the G3258, I plan on overclocking and then upgrading fairly soon after. I have a gtx 560 which I intend to keep for a while.

That's more of a side-grade than an upgrade.

Save up to get a better cpu than the G3258 if you want to upgrade.

More of a sidegrade like woodenmarker said but at least you would have an upgrade path on the intel side.

i dont find upgrade worth since it has 2 less cores not -as good intergrated gpu can oc and it reqiers a new board wich is wight cpu 130$ MIN so yea fore 4 fps in dual core games  not really worth the  upgrade

Don't bother, it's hardly an upgrade. I would hold out until Q3 2015 for skylake then go straight for skylake and selling your 7850k

Better single-threaded performance, worse multi-threaded performance. Stick with where you are until you can get an i5.

Why would you buy a CPU with the intention of upgrading fairly soon? Just start saving for the CPU you actually want.

Going with Pentium would be a downgrade imo.

It seems like a downgrade especially if the A10 is overclocked. It would also cost you about $130 to switch and you could just save that and get another or a better GPU.

IMO, bad idea.

 

An alternative would be going to an i5 but that's more like $270ish and it would last you much longer than either of your options you're talking about.
