I am looking for three monitors for surround setup triple.

My GPU is GTX 970 G1 edition. It can handle up to 4 monitors.

I have only two options for monitors. Asus VN247 TN panel or Acer H236HL IPS.

I prefer the Tn panel cuz i don't want my sisters or mom see me playing GTA 5.

Anyway the problem is both monitors are 60hz. I just want to know if that 970 card hold more than 60 fps on ultra settings 1080p.

I think the Asus VN is about 75hz. If my gpu drive more than 75fps , i don't want screen tearing and all those stuffs. Please answer me.

Thanks in advance.

TN panel won't prevent people viewing what you're doing from an angle. It will just look like shit, but you'll still be able to make it out. Honestly, it's hard to answer your question. It depends on the game whether you can achieve 60+fps ultra and I doubt you can in a triple monitor setup (if games are running on the triple monitor resolution, you should be using 1 monitor for games most of the time). Also you need to use v-sync or variable refresh (freesync for AMD/G-sync for Nvidia) in order to stop tearing and there will still be tearing on 75-144hz monitors without these solutions..

If you don't mind using v-sync that can cause input lag and micro stuttering then go with good 60Hz IPS 1080p panels imo. If you want a TN and to stop tearing you can get a g-sync TN panel, I don't know where you're from so I can't really tell what you should get.

EDIT: Just wanted to point out that if you're 18 years old (age for GTA V in most countries) why should you worry about your mother and sisters seeing you play it? If you are not 18 years old you probably shouldn't play it maybe... Imo it should be OK for 15+ but if your like 11 years old then you should probably not play it.

The 970 can definitely handle 1080P at 60FPS, but if you do a surround setup, you'll have to lower some settings. Also go IPS. A TN just looks shitty at an angle, you can still see what's happening though. That ACER monitor is very good.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I am from U.S. And i am into 17. I believe input lag is the delay on monitor which i can't show it fast ...am i right ? i don't know what is micro stuttering. but can ips panel cause tearing ? to get g sync type i don't have that much budget because i am high school student and don't have a job yet. and also can i over clock the refresh rate ? i won't be using the computer from an angle most of the time. i will be sitting in front of the monitors. so doesn't matter about the tn and ips. please give me a quick explain about the micro stuttering,

how about the input lag on that ? if gpu get more than 60fps , my 60hz will cause tearing. with the tn panel , i use my computer right in front of it most of the time. Please explain me what micro stuttering is.

Don't worry about microstuttering, that's an SLI thing. You won't notice input lag at all.

V-sync stops tearing and you probably won't notice input lag. Don't worry about it. IPS and TN aren't different when it comes to screen tearing. I just suggest you go for the IPS monitors and don't worry about g-sync if your budget isn't high because they are quite expensive.

I bought a TN panel before my curent monitor amd i sold it only after 1 month.

My advice is. Buy an IPS!

Trust me.

cheap Tn panels are awful, quality ones are barely any worse than Ips. I moves from a 1080p ips monitor to a Tn 4k monitor and I've zero complaints.

viewing angles are fine and colours are vibrant.

p. s you'd need more than a 970 to max out 3 1080p monitors. I'd go with 2 970s in sli. even then you may need to turn down a setting or 2

It can handle up to 4 monitors.

Up to four monitors can be attached, but that doesn't actually mean anything. Virtually all video cards at any price have at least 3, if not 4 outputs. A single GTX 970 is going to struggle in many games if you try to play at 5760x1080, though.

On a single 1920x1080 monitor, you bet, a 970 will often be capable of framerates over 60.

so either i get a good tn or i have to get the ips. I am having problem with the budget. what if i just play at mid settting on one 970 ?

If u still wanna go for triple monitor i think u wanna take a look at this

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16824005365

That is one of the best value 1080p IPS monitor on the market.

It also have a thin bazzle. So that will be nice for triple monitor setting

A single 970 can run bf4 on Medium (minus AA) on a triple monitor setup just fine.

Sources: me, I've been doing it for months.

Also, use the IPS. And would not overclock the display, especially if it's cheap. The power supply in one of my monitors kind of popped... Luckily my RMA went through fine :D

Just so we're clear OP. When we say that you won't be running on 3 monitors in games that great we mean if your using the surround display for gaming. Not just the middle monitor, if you only intend to game on the middle monitor you won't need more than a 970 to run on high/ultra with high fps.
