Loss for an extremely long Cat 6 cable

Say I had to install an extremely long Cat 6 cable. 1,000 feet. How much speed would I lose if I was paying my ISP for 75/75?

295 feet is the roundabout standard for max run without a repeater or something on cat 5e

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

I believe the max is 300 FT, So you would need boosters along that path for good data integrity.

Okay, change that to Cat 6.

Yes as above the maximum length without a regenerateor/repeater is 100M/300Ft. You will get lots of packet loss if you get anything at all.

Switches generally, although there are repeaters that literally do just that and nothing more.

What do you need to run 1000 feet of cable for, if you don't mind me asking?

 

As others have mentioned, Ethernet Cable has a max length of 100m (or around 330 feet). This will be the same regardless of the Category Level (Cat5/5e/6/6a/7, etc). There are inherent limits in copper.

 

For such long distances, you'll either 2 repeater units (a small box that you plug each of the three 100m cables into, to string them all together). Keep in mind that repeaters draw power, so each repeater must be near a power source.

 

Alternatively, you simply use a different kind of cable, such as Fibre Optic. For example, 1000BASE‑LX cable is rated up to 550m (Around 1800 ft) when using standard multi-mode fibre cables.

 

You'd need special network equipment at either end (Special LAN card or Switch on either end), but it would likely be the best solution. Not necessarily cheap though, no matter which way you do it.

At half or more way use a gigabit switch. And then run another cable to the desired location.

Half way would still be way too long. Max length is 330 ft. Ethernet Cat cables are likely not the way he should do this. But of course, we need more info.

I'm actually into networking and obviously PCs. But I have been in 4 meetings. I'm still at the office completing some work.

Something like this could help.  Convert your CAT 6 into fiber and then back from fiber into CAT 6.  The killer will be in finding and buying a 1000' fiber cable.

Something like this could help.  Convert your CAT 6 into fiber and then back from fiber into CAT 6.  The killer will be in finding and buying a 1000' fiber cable.

You can terminate your own cables, just like a ethernet patch cord. You just want to be super super careful, and test it before running it of course xD.

 

Amazon has various 1000 ft bulk Fibre cables listed, it's just a matter of choosing the correct type of cable I assume.
