DO NOT buy that AMP.

It is the exact same internals as the SMSL SD793-II($65).

They couldn't be more different...the Topping is for passive speakers while the SMSL is not.

The topping works with passive speakers, the SMSL doesn't have speaker outputs on it.  Hi @NannerBeans

My mistake, I read on Hi-Fi, some guy was considering purchasing that and someone said what I just said.

My bad, I should have done my research instead of regurgitating what I heard someone else say.

If only EVERYONE had that mentality in the audio sub..  Then all of the resident "audio peels" wouldn't have as many warning points. Kappa.

That guy might be mistaking which SMSL amp he was talking about because there are a few well regarded powered amps from them.

Maybe I was the one who got it wrong, thinking of the SMSL SA-50 which is for speakers, while the SD793-II is for headphones

But if I just used it for the headphone amp and not for speakers, would that be stupid?

Yes, as in redundant and possibly less quality purchase. You're buying a speaker amp with a 'bonus' of a headphone jack. Logically, with the same price, you could get a better specialized headphone amp.

Told you from the start, the eb01 is just a standalone dac, not a dac/amp combo. Now that you already got a dac, there's no point in getting another device that have dac in it. Unless you're planning on selling the eb01, and replace it altogether.

Yeah, other people said otherthings, I got confused. People were saying it had an amp, I contacted Silverstone, their reply was "it is enough to power any headphones, not speakers"

I guess I'll just get an e11k, as it's cheap ish, good reviews, and I can bring it with my phone.

First I have to acquire money.

If they really say 'enough to power ANY headphones' then they're either blatantly lying, or don't know their shits. There are crazy headphones in the market that are very hard to be driven properly. They need a relatively powerful amp to drive them.

E11k is good, but like other portable devices, the battery will eventually become its weak point. Rechargeable batteries got a lifespan.

Yeah, they are not really an audio company.

If the e11k battery ever dies, I can just use it as a desktop amp, as the e11k can be used whilst plugged in.

Any tips to maximize battery life?
