Hello, I recently have added a Asus Strix GTX970 and a Samsung UD590, I really like this new monitor and GPU. However when I have everything maxed out in Borderlands the Pre-Sequel I am hitting anywhere from 15-25 FPS when fighting and at a stop in the game I am at 60 FPS, I just ran Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and recieve a score of 343 and 13FPS that benchmark was ran with everything on high and resolution set at 3840x2160. This was my first time using a benchmark software. CPU is overclcoked at 4.2GHZ and temps stay around 50C and my RAM is at 1600mhz.

The only thing I can think of is that my CPU is causing a slow down?

Thanks Andrew

Your CPU could be the bottleneck, although OC'ed, I wouldn't think that it would cause that big of a slow-down. You might try playing around with V-Sync and see if that helps. Other than that I would just lower your settings until you can get a new CPU or CPU/MoBo combo.

It's definitely the CPU, my 7850K bottlenecks my R9 280, so it'll for sure bottleneck a 970. It's that as well as you running at 4K, the 970 can't handle that so well.

I thought that the CPU would be bottle necking good to know that it does it on other GPU.

I am Running the resolution on my games at 3840x2160 so 4k, I did change it down to 2560x1440 and I did see a little if any change in my FPS.

I thought the 970s could do 4k gaming? or did I mistaking myself for the 980?

The 970 is more of a 1080P card, even the 980 would really struggle at 4K, try using Geforce experience and use the settings it provides

I tried the Geforce experience and all it changed was my resolution down to 2560x1440.

What can play 4k games?
