Some GTX 970 users have started a petition towards the GTX 970. I haven't bought mine yet, and, I'm not sure if I will now. What do you guys think?

Petition: https://www.change.org/p/nvidia-refund-for-gtx-970 currently has 7,634 supporters, they are trying to reach 10,000.  PCWorld, Gamespot and MaximumPc have noticed the petition.

Would you buy a 970, should I?

I think you should wait until AMD releases their 300 series, it could quite likely have better price to performance, and will almost certainly drop Nvidia's prices a bit.

The description is terribly worded and written, therefore I will not support it.

the 970 is still a great card, depends on your use case, what resolution you play at, what games do you play.

isnt that true for ever card ever? ...

The card still has 3.5GB of full speed VRAM which is more than enough to run any games at any resolution at acceptable FPS. By the time the card starts lagging out, the issue will be from the GPU itself not having enough power, and will not be VRAM related.

When in doubt, re-format.

I don't have alot of money, so I need something that will hold up for a while to evolving games. I currently game at 1080p, but thinking of moving to 4k.

You don't have a lot of money but you're thinking that you want to move to 4k? Nah.

If you don't have a lot of money, buy a GPU that you can afford - like the 970 apparently - and play at 1080p.

Nvidia has already offered to help people return their cards if they're not satisfied with their purchase due to this issue.  I'm not sure what people expect from an online petition.  Was there a miscommunication?  Yes, but considering that people are being refunded, anything more just seems unnecessary.  It's not like they refused to refund them.

My PC specifications are in my profile.

I'm just trying to figure out what people think of the petition, and whether or not they would buy a 970.

The GTX 970 is an amazing card, the benchmarks do not lie at all.

People just need to stop being so fucking butthurt about the issue with the slow .5GB of VRAM.

I've got the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming, it is an amazing card, would not return it even if I got all my money back and they paid shipping. (Though if I could get a free upgrade to the 980 then I'd jump at it right away.)

My current GPU is an EVGA GTX 650 ti Boost, so I could use an upgrade. but don't want to buy a $600+ graphics card. So, I had my eyes on the 970, but could definitely use the 4GB that was advertised originally.

You're going to have to spend about that much to drive a 4k monitor if you wanna play your games with high settings at at least 60fps.

We have a thread for this, OP, multiple threads in fact. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/303276-official-nvidia-gtx-970-discussion-thread/

Others, you know better.

My initial intention was to bring forth the petition, and see what people thought about the issue. My apologies.
