Ghetto Fix - MSI N460GTX Hawk - Noctua Fans

I want to thank everyone at LMG for teaching me the versatility and awesomeness of zip ties.  Without them this ghetto fix would not of been possible.

I had this fans in a box from a build I made on a silverstone FT03 that I don't use anymore (switched to 120mm) and a friends graphics cards fans started to go bad.  I asked him if he wanted to try this ghetto rig and he said yes.

 

Card works great... lol... don't try this at home...

What happened to the original cooler?

 

That is the original heatsink, the fans started to die.  They were loud at first, then they started to stop spinning.  It was one of those time that you ask yourself: should I throw it away or ghetto rig it ?  I had the noctua fans and some shin-etsu thermal paste.  My friend said, lets do it! I have no money for a new gpu.

 

we made the right call :)  its working and playing Sying Light on high settings runs at 44C... idles around 25C...  The fans are running @ 100% 1800RPM.

I did that with my 5770, still working great in my mums machine!

 

Props for ghetto, instead of a replacement!

 

Why didn't you remove that sticker showing though?
