Build before, I am looking to have it last for a good 3 years, I thought the 8350 would be fine (I know its not as good as the i7, but its way cheaper) To do whatever I would throw it

No, they make you think that but the cooling and the more expensive mobo make it equal to or more expensive than a Intel CPU.

Get a i5 4690k and be happy about your very good choice.

So cooling the i7 will be a pain, will I have to liquid cool it? If that is the case, can I just cool it with fans until I have to overclock?

The 8350 is too old and no upgrade path, grab an i5 4690k and it will actually perform better for less cost, u will not need a high end motherboard or cooler like u will with the 8350.

You dont need liquid cooling on an i7 unless ur OCing, and you dont need an i7 unless ur rendering, an i5 will perform almost the same in games.

Building a gaming rig, I wanna cut on price and I heard from many that amd cpus are great and cheap. The most I'd pay for a cpu is $270, nothing more and I'm in US. Finding the fx-8350 seems like a great cpu that can hold its own against any high intensity game, like bf4 or project cars.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MLDzjX  I've reworked the a bunch of times, but I have already bought the case

If your wondering why people are totally against the FX for gaming, have a read of this HUGELY INFORMATIVE POST (Proven with Results)

Recommended read for all prospective FX buyers.

like others have said, go with an i5. For gaming, you get about the same performance as you would with an i7.

So i5 is good for any games I would be playing, and OCing with the i5 will i need to liquid cool it?

You can run any i5 on the stock cooler just fine, let alone aftermarket coolers or watercooling.

They are too easy to keep cool.

And yeah, an i5 will not be an issue for games, that are made well, any unoptimized piece of crap game may not run well on ANY CPU...

With my 4690 (non-K) at stock, in games my GPU usage is relatively always at 97-100% efficiently used, which is ideal, only when a game is a shitty port or has it's own problems, would it actually be lower than that... which affects all users of that software, not just my computer.

No. Get a 4690k For gaming

He doesn't even need a 4690k. A 4460 would do just as well.

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

It's funny how bandwaggony tech forums like this are and how opinions (mostly from popular youtube videos) spread like a disease. We went from recommending overkill power supply's back in the day to now crucifying anyone that recommends something even slightly overkill and instead recommending bare minimum even if the price is the same. Now it appears the FX 6300/8320 went from good budget gaming CPU's to complete shit even though almost nothing has changed on the intel side in terms of gaming performance (The pentium G3258 shook things up a bit though).

The main point that everyone speaking bad about FX processors is trying to make (or at least they should be) is that AMD FX CPU's at the moment are just not worth buying. An intel i5 is a much more worthwhile purchase even though that has always been the case.

Intel i7 3770K [] Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 [] MSI R9 290X 4GB [] 16GB  G.SKILL 2133Mhz [] Crucial MX100 256GB [] WD Black 1TB [] XFX Pro 850W [] Fractal Define R3 [] Func MS-3 R2 [] Corsair K60 []

The AMD option for something like an i5 would be an A10 (not onboard graphics though). I would definitely say go for an i5 if you need 4 cores or an i3 or G3258 if you don't think you need 4.

G3258 @ 4.5 | 8GB Team Vulcan RAM | 128GB Kingston V300 SSD (I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it) | MSI H81I Motherboard | Corsair H55 with Noctua NF-P12 | EVGA SSC GTX 960 4GB | OCZ 550W Fully Modular PSU with Noctua NF-A14 | Cooler Master Elite 130 (Soon to be something cool)

I haven't been in the pc world for long, but I do see people really slapping around AMD or hating on companies that honestly don't seem to bad. Now I heard that AMD is fine till a certain point, in terms of gaming, you should stay to AMD till you are going to play high intensity titles like star citizen or bf4. And the overkill about PSU is soo true, i watched two people start putting links to statistics to prove their point.

But the 4690k is more expensive...

For just the CPU, yes. For the entire thing: not really.

Besides, the 8350 needs to die, and now is the time.

BF4 is the perfect game for FX, go play Arma 3 and see how that fares :P

arma 3 runs like butt on a 4770k too, its just a crappy game built on a shitty engine.

any game with worse graphics than bf4 and shittier performance is a piss poor design game...like all of ubisoft.
