Just started folding - Have a few questions!

Go to solution Solved by Extingquish,

Welcome to the team! :)

1) Before you reach 3% the estimate is the maximum time you have left to complete the WU (I think) After ~30mins the ETA should be much smaller. This happens for every new type of WU (eg. 9201, 13000, 13001)

2) These temps are normal, my FX 6300 runs at about 44C

3) Simlple answer, yes.

4) It depends on the WUs you get, but with the updated ETA, you should get it within a few weeks at the most

5) Yes, there are a few:

I'm sure you could find more, but those are just the ones I would use :)

I just started this whole Folding thing last night. I heard about it some time ago, but never bothered to look in to it. I figured last night was as good a time as ever. I'm left with a few questions that weren't really explicitly answered in the FAQ.

  • My current WU says it will take 12 days to complete, and I am running it at Full. I have a Radeon 6870 and an FX-6300. Is 12 days normal?
  • My FX-6300 has set at 41C after folding at 100% for more than an hour. It has been pegged at 100% usage. Is this a sign it's not using the chip's full potential, since on a Hyper 212, the temp is so low?
  • Can I fold on multiple devices under the same name, and at the same time?
  • The badges say that you need to complete 21 WUs before you can be considered a contributor. Does this mean it will take me more than a year to achieve this, since I can't fold 24/7?
  • Is there a leaderboard for the members of a team, and not just teams themselves?

That's all I can think of for now.

When I started, It said "You have 8 days to complete this WU" and it took 2 hours, dont worry :)

I was 100% max CPU load at 60°C with a Kraken X61 so that should be OK. Check your CPU usage, and if it is 98-100% you are golden.

You can fold on multiple devices at the same time.

It took me roughly a week and a half to get the Contributor badge and I folded 6-8 hours a day, sometimes longer.
