Norton Sucks

asim1999

Just uninstalled my Norton Internet Security and installed AVG Free. I have used AVG for 14 years and never had an issue. Norton slows down my computer at startup, and even fails to initiate a scan sometimes.

Do any of u hate norton?

I hate all Anti-viruses. they just get in your way and slow down your system.

I've been running w/o an AV for 3 years now, I am just careful about what websites I visit and what I download.

Duh. I use MalwareBytes. Most of the big names are overpriced and work the exact same as free offerings.

I can honestly say I have never had problems with Norton. I hear a lot of bashing on Norton on the Internet, but I don't recognise the symptons they discribe.

I am currently running Norton 360 Premier (family license) and it has only failed once (something slipped past that changed my homepage/default search engine) but other than that it works just fine. (Running win7Pro x64)

Well you might as well just remove your wi-fi password as well because that is the most inane thing I have ever heard of.

A hacker could very easily get access to bank, email, social media, and various other accounts. Leading to cyber crime, robbery, or even identity theft.

Personally I use Eset anti-virus.

I picked up a subscription for $20 and it has worked very well for me so far.

Malwarebytes isn't intended to be your sole anti-virus solution. It doesn't work the same way.

I am not worried about it, I've already went this far. Most anti-virus software won't protect you from most FUD rats and viruses anyways, if someone is wanting to get in your system they will (as long as you're using Windows). And as I've mentioned I never visit foreign websites or download from unknown sources.

It has nothing to do with your awareness though. You can simply get a virus by opening an email or clicking a link.

It does not have to be someone at a computer trying to get access, it only has to be another computer.

And in fact, a lot of anti-virus' will protect you from virus'.

Good anti-virus softwares have over a 98-99% detection and removal rate. Not sure how that doesn't protect you.
