Even simulated 4K looks sweet as.

BF4 /w SuperSampling Resolution Scale @ 200% (Set in game)

Screenshot 1080p @ 200% = 4K VS 1080p /w the default 100%

:)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

so inn a weeks time i want to buy 2 980 to try to get in to 4k gaming but is it any good? what about triple monitor setup is that any better

I'm gonna be the sour part of this conversation, it seems.

Yes it looks good, but it certainly isn't necessary. You'd probably be just as happy with a killer 1440p monitor, running ALL games cranked, and only one 980/290x

The projects never end in my line of work.

I think it's an amazing experience, but not just for gaming. Right now it's primarily for productivity in my opinion.

I have a single 980 and run all of my games great.

you might not like the issues windows has with 4k like wrong text and icon scaling

It's fixed for the most part in Windows 8.1 - but yes there are some things that do not scale. Not too bad

It makes 1080p look like a microwaved terd... Im not lying, I get on my sim rig (triple 1080 @ 22inch ) and I keep checking the graphics settings to make sure they haven't turned themselves down for some reason because everything in the distance is a blurry mess and the edges of everything just "twinkle" constantly, the textures look crap.

My single gtx980 is JUST good enough for a single 4k and its clocked to 1.5jigahurtz.

You have to get a 60hz+ panel for gaming. You are best off using DisplayPort.

Compared to my old 24in 1080p monitor, 4k is a lot better. It looks really crisp in games and desktop. There's no text blurring or noticeable jaggies in games. I have 2 780ti's in sli and get about 45-85 fps in games with AA set at 2x or 4x.

I don't want to thread jack, but what about the triple screen portion of the question? How is the frame rate on 3 monitors running on 1080 or 1440p with 980's running in SLI?

Surround 1080p is easy, I did that a few years ago on 6990 + 6970 trifire. Ran 60fps or higher at ultra all the time. So if you have enough GPU horsepower, 1440p surround is doable. 4k surround is still a ways off.

The projects never end in my line of work.

Total noob here but what do you mean by Surround 4k? Do you mean 3 monitors running at 4k?

i really dont know i wanna pick triple monitor setup at at the same time when 4k becomes mainstream i dont want to be left with something i spent 700 cash money on

You have a while before 4K is mainstream. It's available, but the cost is still too high for many people.

It looks amazing. I wouldn't recommend two 980s, though. They're priced stupidly. Get either two 970s or two 290Xs. Not much difference in performance, get whichever solution is cheapest.

Fantastic!

This is exactly what I plan to run in the near future, although I'll be running a 4790k instead of the 4770k.

Thanks for the info sir!
