Dual R9 285 or Single R9 290 for gaming at 5760x1080

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

I know Dual Graphic Setup will be ideal. But for now as I am constrained by budget , so my question is will a 290 card be sufficient to make the games playable for now? I will add a second card a few months down the line.

with single 290X

you can play at med to high

with dual 290Xs you can bump to Ultra

Hi Guys,

I am thing of extending my current PC to a triple monitor gaming rig. The monitors will be all 1920x1080p. Will it be better to go for dual R9 285 in crossfire or a single R9 290?

My configuration is :

Processor : Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4 GHz

MoBo : ASUS Maximus VI Formula

RAM : 8GB

Monitor : AOC 22inch IPS LED Monitor x 3

PSU : Seasonic 750W Power Supply

Thanks for your help.

single 290/X now

later CF 290/X

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

Dual 285's in the least. For that setup, you may even want dual 290/290X cards.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

You want more than 2 GB Vram. Go 290X or 290 at the minimum... CF 290x is recommended.

Assuming you want to play games like BF4 that are graphically demanding, of course.

2x 290 is ideal for that setup

1x 290 will work pretty well, esp against the 285, a no brainer.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
