Hi, I recently built a new computer about three months ago and as I was laying in bed it shut off by itself. I was thinking it was the psu but I am not sure. Oddly enough, my keyboard still lights up but that's the only thing that works/lights up. I have a corsair 1000w hxi with 2xgtx 980, 5820k, and a bunch of fans. I've tried unplugging the psu and what not. The only thing I get is a little click.

I'm using an h-240x with noctua fans. Cpu is running around 4.0ghz stable oc. I find it weird that only the keyboard turns on, no power anywhere else in the whole system.

check your Power Options and make sure it is not set to go to sleep or turn off display

Reset the CMOS and detach everything from the mobo except the CPU and its cooler, one stick of RAM and the mobo header for the power button. Connect monitor to the board's graphics port, and your kb/mouse to USB2 ports if any.

Then try to turn it on.

I have tried that just now. Weird thing is that the power/reset button will turn on on the motherboard and I'll hit the clear cmos button and ill hear a click in the psu, I don't think it's the psu though if it is allowing power to only my keyboard at the time but now that everything is unplugged it is still turning on the lights to the power/reset button located on the mobo, I'm using a Asus x-99 deluxe btw.

The computer won't even turn on :( the keyboard will light up and the power/reset button on the mobo will light up, nothing else.  A slight click will happen in the mobo though.

sounds like the spu has failed or a motherboards trail is damaged could happen from heat. maby too much power true the board for longer time could fry it if the board dossent come whit good cooling build on it.

ps: this mother board should not be able to breake that easy tough. I think its the cpu that has taken damage.

U could always try to start your power supply with the paper clip test.
