Maximum profile photo size?

I'm not sure if this is the right sub forum for this, but, I'll ask here anyways...

 

What's the maximum file size for profile images? I am trying to upload a gif for my profile image and it took a long time to upload and then I realized it was much larger than I originally thought, or noticed, that being 38mb, and when it supposedly finished uploading nothing actually happened. So, before I remake the gif, what's the maximum size? :P @nicklmg @LinusTech

Downloading programs from CNet is not a good idea, as they will commonly include unwanted, and sometimes dangerous bloatware... The more you know.

I believe it is 2 MB

First off, that's Imgur's .gifv, not .gif. You cant have a .gifv as your avatar.

 

Find a .gif formatted avatar. Then make sure it's under 2MB. Then you should be able to upload and use it as an avatar

I know, but downloaded it is simply a gif.

downsize it to around 200x200 px, and if there was no size limit imagine how slow forum pages would load

Thanks, I'm going to try and redo the gif with Gifcam rather than Imgur.
