Ideal PSU for R9-270

dialgarocksful

I was wondering if I can go buy Corsair (CX/VS. can't remember what's cheaper) 450W PSU if I got an R9-270, which will be overclocked to obtain its 270X counterpart power.

Here are my current part specs:

Aside from that, I'll be connecting an NZXT Blue LED Strips, which is an additional 5-10W.

Hmm.. If I retain its power, could I lower it to getting VS/CX450?

I was reading some pages on its technical specs, most of them has "Required PSU" which is 500.. Now I was thinking, will it run if I go 450?

Please stop looking for Corsair. They don't make good power supplies for the money. Especially not VS or CX.

Look for Seasonic or Antec and get yourself something that is actually good quality.

YOU can do a better build than that, give me a moment to improve

Also do you already have the motherboard or is the price tag just not visible?

I don't have the case in it since I think you already have one (YOu didn't have one in the build you linked either. Also this is with more RAM, a better GPU and the motherboard price included

Edit: If you can still return the motherboard for a full refund I would recommend you do and go this instead.

Pretty sure if mobo is "purchased" then price comes up as $0

I'm sticking to FM2 board+cpu since my laptop is already a 5-year old Intel 2330M and has 8GB, I'm already getting tired to use an Intel device.

I'll be using it as a partial mining rig (Altcoin for 2-3hrs a day), then mostly for gaming and a bit of video processing + use of Photoshop.

Speaking of 49.99 on PSU, how do I send rebate from the Philippines. It usually takes 7-10 working days for it to be received in US. Do I buy the item first or do I send the letter then get discounted?

Yes, you get the item and then fill in the rebate. I don't know if you can do MIR in the Philippines. Let me look into that.

edit: No you can't. US and Canada only. In that case, something like this would be nice. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182066&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Are you able to order from Amazon? They have a great deal going for this PSU right now. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003HE260I/?tag=pcpapi-20

my primary store is directron, then amazon as secondary. I'll be using a US-PHL courier which will change the ship from US-PHL directly to US-UScourier-PHL.

The courier got a minimum transaction fee of $20 for 1kg item

If Directron is noticeably better for you then Amazon then this is also a good choice http://www.directron.com/neoeco520c.html

The 620W from Amazon is the same inside but its 100W more and is modular.

Hmm.. I liked it but TBH my budget for PSU is roughly $40-45. I'll be maximizing the extra cash I get for the GPU. Any other good suggestions, I guess with 80+ bronze?

I'll be getting CPU and probably a small component on Directron. Aside that, I'll be buying locally to reduce shipping charge fees and transit time

Prices here in PHL market is too damn high as opposed to NewEgg prices.. (Sapphire R9 280X here costs roughly $345)

If you can find any Seasonic or Antec (except Antec SP) PSU locally then you'll be good.

To sum up, do I need 450 or 500 for a 270/280 GPU if I don't want to overclock it?

Evga 500B or 600B is my recommendation as I have used 2 of each so far and they pull what they advertise pretty well wattage wise and I have run nearly identical systems to yours off of them with hefty GPU overclock (1100/1500) on an R9 270

I am addicted to building gaming PCs but I don't have a great reason to stop...yet...
