Posted January 28, 2015 which one, the jk, m or the g7501m, there are a few models I use a 1 year old G750JW with a 765m and 16gb of ram, and I can dump almost any game on an external monitor while using itunes, chrome, etc on the laptop screen with no issues. Even Bioshock infinite runs like that up to high. For ultra I only output to the one monitor. But it does it! Any of the newer ones should be even better. The projects never end in my line of work. I haven't tested those, but it runs everything I do: WoW, Bioshock Infinite, Skyrim, and some others about 70fps while cranked. [A wonderful cooling pad helps stability like crazy] My work rig I have: Visual Studio, 3DSMax, Maya, CS6 Master Collection, UE4 (Surprisingly powerful for modeling out environments for planning), CryEngine, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reason, and about 500 other programs, many plugins and an ungodly amount of scratch data. You'd be amazed how quick those resources can be filled though, especially when you work with multiple apps open at once. The projects never end in my line of work. Is this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232202 One day I will have one similar to yours That G751 will run pretty much anything at 1080p beautifully.* My rig is built for me, I don't recommend anyone going out and building one of mine unless they need the utmost in performance across all facets of workflow. I do have to get pictures one day when I take it out of the rack at work. It is about 110 lbs all included. That being said, Linus... I challenge you a build guide to match! *Notice I said Pretty much. I'd say a good 85-90% of games. Not Watch_Dogs. Ubisoft hates us. The projects never end in my line of work. Posted January 28, 2015 For about $1500? Probably the P17xSM-A from Clevo. Socketed CPU and GPU, 230W brick and fairly customizable, but you won't get much beyond stock configs at that price. The Asus G750JM is nowhere NEAR being the best at that price. It only has an 860M and a 4700HQ. The Asus G751JT is a better machine, but seeing as how all the parts are soldered, it is worse than a socketed machine like the P17xSM-A line. Best value: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8278s-clevo-p170sma-p-6985.html?wconfigure=yes Flashy: http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np8298-clevo-p177sma-p-6983.html?wconfigure=yes MSI's competition: http://www.xoticpc.com/msi-gt70-dominator2293-p-7598.html?wconfigure=yes(180W power brick, more expensive at stock). And yes, there is a difference between the HQ and MQ chips aside from soldered and socketed. You can read the i7 guide in my signature if you want to know more. I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
