So when I just put together my recent build I downloaded the Windows 8.1 Enterprise trial to try out 8.1 (been using 7, didn't know if I'd like it).

8.1 works for me, so I picked up a 8.1 Professional key and to make it legit and ditch the trial. How do I update my product key from the Enterprise trial to my Pro key? More specifically, can it be done without having to reload on Windows?

You... can't? They're different operating systems, you can't dumb down and OS without a complete reinstall.

By the way, your member title doesn't make sense; You are not between "here and there"; you are "here", so you couldn't possibly be between those two places.

You MIGHT be able to do something with the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature, but if you can't then you have to do a fresh install. You for sure should be able to use the key somewhere.

... Say i'm pointing to an arbitrary point, and then I point to another. I could be anywhere between those two points, but you don't know where I am, because you don't see where I'm pointing.

He's not upgrading, he's downgrading.

This is what I figured, was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to though. Didn't know if there was a work around.

I've tried going into the control panel and updating the product key there but it wont accept it.

"here" implies where you are.
