you can put rubber grommets arround the mounting holes like many case makers already do

My personal favorite way of doing it:

1. Unplug the HDD

2. Open the window

3. Throw the HDD out the window

4. Buy an SSD

5. Install the SSD into your system

If you could mount the HDD to one of those sponge things then mount that in your case that could work.

I wouldn't do this as it would significantly increase its temperature, therefore reducing its life.

I don't have a window, but do have a balcony door. Would this work too?

Screw it, I'll try it anyways...

EDIT: I hit someone and now they are mad, what should I do?!?!?

Well, i already have an ssd , but only 128GB and for the OS

the hdd for storage

So like this

Side Tray - Thin Sponge - Hard Drive - Thin Sponge - Side Tray ?

Possible, I was thinking more of hot glue the HDD to a medium sized sponge (large enough to have some come out the sides from below the hdd), then hotglue the sponge to the case. (You just have to heat up the hot glue to get it to come off easily, which can be done with a hair dryer)

I have the same issue. Did some research and you could buy HDD cooling units or make your own HDD bay, like I am going to do.

Saw some things with HDDs suspended in air using ropes/elastic rope to absorb vibrations, like this:

You could try that, to me it seems more effective than a sponge because this doesn't prevent the HDD from cooling itself.
