If your onboard can get it loud enough, then you don't need an amp... The amp only makes the output louder for those hard to drive (high impedance, low sensitivity) headphones...

 

I suggest getting a DAC&AMP combo like the Objective2 if you really want an amp...

Worst case, if you get a bad amp, it'll introduce noise into the signal or even change the signal altogether...
