What is your budget?

For a 970 I'd recommend an i5 4690k (Or a 4770K if you want to save a little money).

I'm assuming you meant 4670K, a 4770K is a lot more than a 4690K.

I'd get a 4690K, along with a decent Z97 board, a budget and location (or rather the currency used) would be immensely helpful.

469K definitely.

Gee I didn't know Intel was going down into just three digits instead of the old 4 number product name.

CPU: Intel i7 8700K | CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3 | RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x8GB | Motherboard: Asus ROG Z370-E | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB & 2TB | SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB & 970 EVO M.2 500GB | Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X | PSU: Silverstone Platinum Strider 1100W | Monitor: AOC i2367Fh | Headphones: ATH-M40X | Mic: Antlion ModMic 4 | Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB w/ MX Browns | Mouse: Logitech G502 HERO

FX 8350 will bottleneck a 970 for sure.

Yes, it  does. Mine gets around an average of 85% usage in BF4, while I'm OC'ed to 4.8 GHz, I'm planning on upgrading to Intel Skylake when it comes out.

@OP, Get an Intel, unfortunately AMD doesn't have any very compelling CPUs right now, and the i5 4690K will blow the FX-8350 out of the water in games.

I was saying it does, not asking! Thanks though lol

Amd is irrelevant for gaming.

Even on budget.

Had to disagree with you on this one

For $500 or lower build I'd go with athlon

sadly, how dx9/11 (poorly) utilizes a multicore cpu has cut out AMD from the race for enthusiast level graphic cards. you are probably stuck with intel for now for a 970.

It's just nonsense that AMD is a must for budget gaming. Intel offers a better value, always has been for the last years.

Sadly the pentium is being fazed out. An athlon is a smarter option. An i3 though would be the smartest option.

Yeah because buying a athlon cpu on fm2+ is a smart choice.

No doubt about it.

Fuck buying a g3258 and upgrading it later to an i7 right guys? Who needs upgrade path.
