Hi. I am planning to get the Corsair Rgb k95, but I don't know if I should get the brown switches or the red switches. I am going to use this for mostly gaming. I really like the browns feeling and the fact that it does not make as much sound as the blues. (I don't want to wake my parents up, their right next to my room) But I also read some forums saying that reds are good for gaming because it is very easy to click. You can double tap really easily. Any thoughts?

Well, i suggest that you try out reds and see what you think of them, and form your own opinion. Everyone has different preferences.

Try going to Best Buy or something and seeing if they have any mechanical keyboards to test and try out a red switch.

Test out reds, test out browns. Choose whatever one you like better. It's all personal preference. Personally I like browns.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Both are very light. Reds are easy to hit to the base and can be weidr for me personally to type on but are a joy to game on. Browns require the same amount of force but have a tactile bump midway down. Best Buy should have the G710+ in stock and that has browns so try that out that if you can. The K65 is what they had on display when I went there and that has reds. I would try them both out.

Also, check the thread in my sig for more info about switches. It has a quiz on switches as well.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

It's preference. If you like browns then get browns. If you like red then get reds.

I personally have a bit of bias here, because I hate how small the tactile bump is on the browns. It almost makes the switch feel broken, so I prefer linear switches like reds.

Seeing as how absolutely light to press the browns are, I can't see them being that much different than reds for gaming, so it really comes down to if you want linear or tactile switches.

The best way to start is, of course, mx brown, I'll explain why.

  • tactile, but not "BANG-BANG" loud, as mx blue
  • just in a middle between linear and clicky switches, so u'll feel soon, should you go linear or clicky switches
  • great for both gaming and typing lots of text

Anyways, it's only up to you to choose, because we all have different fingers and you'll never know, what gonna suit u.
