Sooooo you see I *might* be selling my laptop for 500$ and after it I'm going to build a new (better) PC with that money.

so I have an idea of how it starts

Motherboard: ASRock B85 Killer ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($99.97 @ Micro Center)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $233.95

I'm sure you can find a cheaper RAM for the money, if you don't care about looks ofc.

Most modern games don't like dual-core CPU's.

As beastly as the Pentium is for the price, it is true..

It's black-red and has some decent performance (It's 11 dollars more than your budget but I'm sure you can find that). Also, if you want to get a CPU cooler like the hyper 212 evo you can later since it's cheap and the stock heatsink from the g3258 is ok for a slight overclock.

edit : u can't go with the hyper 212 evo with that case, my bad.

As for needing a keyboard/mouse just purchase a really cheap set for like 10 $ or something......then for the monitor just use your TV

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor

Motherboard: MSI H81M-P33 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Ram: G.Skill AEGIS 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

GPU: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

The CPU could bottleneck in some games, but it's good for overclocking. You may need a higher-wattage PSU if you're overclocking. If you're getting a cooler, throw in a 212 Evo. Keep in mind you may need a bios update. Not quite sure though.

(I have never tested any of these parts, and I can therefore never guarantee no faults.)

I did not include an optical drive.
