Okay,

so at the house im living at now has Terrible internet, and the Call of duty: Advance warfare DLC is dropping next week.

Now My Parents have good 75 Down 20 Up so if i was to take my 500Gb External Hardrive to plug in to my Mothers PC install Steam and and download COD and the DLC on to the external hardrive then, come home and copy and paste the files from my external hardrive over to my SSD would the game run and work?

now i dont wanna just do it and hope for the best i wanna know if it will work before i try anything becuase if not then id rather just suck it up and wait for it to download on the bad connection?

Anyone done or know if this works

please let me know

thanks

Dan

In theory you should be able to do that.

There's an option to make backups of games on Steam. Just put the backups on the external HDD and paste them into your computer's backup folder in Steam, then restore the backup. I did this with 330 GB of games, worked flawlessly, you even save some space because of the compression in case that's a nuisance.

I think just putting in the files also works, but personally I've had the problem that there's some files which must be downloaded regardless, using backups are much more efficient and easy in my experience.

I dunno, but it's really simple, I'll explain it in steps:

How to backup:

1. Click on "Steam" in the upper left corner, select "Backup and Restore Games"

2. Cross "Backup a currently installed game" and click next

3. Cross the box next to the game you want to backup

4. Select where you want the backup folder and click next

5. Change the "File size" to custom and type in an absurdly high number, or at least larger than the you're backing up. then next

6. Magic happens, don't question me, mortal

7. When it's finished, just put the backup folder on your HDD, I think you can also backup the game directly onto the HDD.

How to restore:

1. Click on "Steam" in the upper left corner, select "Backup and Restore Games"

2. Cross "Restore a previous backup" and click next

3. Click "browse" and select where you want to place your backup and click next

4. Then just click next and next, it should start unpacking and installing the files.

5. Be wary of fans, a lot of people have had the problem with getting their dicks stuck in them

6. Voila, you should be done and have the game installed.

Just try with a small game to make sure you got it. You don't have to install the game on the HDD, just make sure the backup is in there.

Between, the only known solution to step 5 is amputation. It's not the most optimal solution, but at least it's a permanent fix.

i think its the only thing i can do at this stage ive been stood here on my phone with google and this is the only known solution....

Goodbuy cruel world i will miss the "Chops off Penis" ARRRHGHHHHHH!

You don't need to do that. Backing up is completely redundant afaik. You can just copy and paste, and if it doesn't work after that just validate the game.
