budget quality modular PSU

Go to solution Solved by Thorium19,

~$90 on newegg - pricier than the ~$76 SeaSonic unit.

Go for the seasonic then, it's a top quality unit, it just doesn't feature all the bells and whistles of the EVGA and XFX units, which are fairly minimal and vain, all things considered.

Hello. I am looking for a modular PSU for the following build:

Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 Mini ITX Tower Case  ($51.98 @ Newegg)
Monitor: LG 22MP55HQ-P 60Hz 22.0" Monitor  ($161.98 @ Newegg)

I picked the SeaSonic M12II for the time being, but I have a feeling it might be a little overkill for my system. Anyway, I'm open to your suggestions.

that PSU is great for your system

although some other brands like EVGA may have a better one for the same price

The power supply you have is about perfect wattage for your system. And if you are into rebates you can go with overkill and get the evga g2 750w for 90 right now. At that price point nothing else comes close.

I couldn't find a modular PSU from EVGA at that price point.

I can't be bothered with rebates, I'm not in the US. I see where you're going with that though, I can't justify it - I'm not overclocking.

The Corsair CX500M is fine i guess. :D

I've heard those don't come highly recommended.

The 850g2 is 90 so that competes

Stick with the seasonic

How much can you get the XFX XTR for? that's an outstanding unit which uses seasonic as the OEM, plus it has the hybrid fan mode like EVGA and corsair have in their fully modular units.
