Dual IPS or TN + IPS?

I've ordered 2x:

http://www.amazon.ca/Dell-U2414H-Ecran-1920-Display/dp/B00H3JIGHA

But...

I'm having second thoughts... I'm going to be playing some fps and some other games and since IPS is capped at 60fps... I thought a TN would feel nicer (buttery smooth type gaming).. So I was thinking of returning one U2414H and getting one of these instead, making it a IPS+TN setup:

http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2420T-Professional-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B006HIKIG0

But I'm not sure... Is there a really noticeable difference between 60fps and 144fps? Does it look a LOT smoother? At what point does your eye stop distinguishing between lower and higher fps?

Thanks! :)

get one of each and it is the best of both worlds, play some games on one, others on the second and i would say that it is smoother and faster for 144hz than 60hz

Its not a bad idea, I once considered it myself. But I said I would hate having two completely mismatch colour monitors side by side, Now I have a IPS beside a PLS but they are very close. It would truly be the best of both worlds for 1080p gaming if you don't mind having two different monitors and having to move your key board around to suite playing on one vs. another.

I have not played on anything above 60Hz, but I there has been a lot of testimony that it does help and so does the reduced monitor lag.

It will look smoother with 144hz but the image will look better with IPS. It's up to you which is preferable. I'd get better looking matching displays.

There isn't any display anywhere close to where higher fps would be indistinguishable .

Well it was sort of an in-theory question I guess. So 500 fps would look better than 200 fps (if they existed)?

And thanks for answering everyone. Okay, understood. I was asking because I'm getting a good deal on the BenQ and wanted to see if it was the better choice. I guess I'll just keep the two Dells then.

Yes, it would look better.
