Quick question

Will an antec truepower 550W gold certified PSU run this build with no hicups:

-Zalman z11 plus

-MSI gaming 3 z97 mobo

-i5 4690k

-r9 290

-120gb kingston ssd

-1tb WD caviar blue hdd

-3 120mm fans and 1 140mm fan

The r9 290 has a minimum Power requiremnt of 700, so No

 

The manufacturer's recommended "requirement" doesn't really indicate what the actual power consumption of the GPU will be. They always overstate the requirement to pretty much guarantee that some guy with a crap quality generic PSU and an ton of other power-intensive hardware should be fine.

 

An R9-290 *should* work with an i5-4690K on a 550W PSU. I might still prefer to go with a ~650W just to be safe though..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

The 290 has a MINIMUM requirment of 700. What the hell is wrong with you -.-

A good 550w should be plenty for any single Gpu system.
