USB extensions and hubs

not sure where else to post this....

 

Is the any data or speed loss with USB extensions or hubs? I wanted to run about 10 foot extension to a hub pretty much just for gaming controllers and flash cards

I doubt it, but probably the power to provide for the devices may be cut short.

Current Rig: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, Abit IN9-32MAX nForce 680i board, Galaxy GT610 1GB DDR3 gpu, Cooler Master Mystique 632S Full ATX case, 1 2TB Seagate Barracuda SATA and 1x200gb Maxtor SATA drives, 1 LG SATA DVD drive, Windows 10. All currently runs like shit :D

If you try to run mutiple SSDs or something like that off a hub, you'll have issues. It may not heave enough power depending on how much you're running, and the bandwidth will get eaten up fast with SSDs or other high-bandwidth items.

I'm not sure about speed loss, but I can imagine there is some.  For the time being, I am using an old 4 port USB 2.0 hub that I found in my basement.  Apparently, it came with my Rockband for Wii...
