It makes it feel a lot smoother and can give the slightest of an advantage. I know a lot of pro players who play on a 60hz panel and are just as good as anyone using a 144hz panel.

The things it helps the most with is when someone gets up close and personal to you. At 60fps, someone will "duck" out of sight when close, even if you're following them. At 120fps, you'll see them a bit better and they might not duck out. At 144fps (which I can't check) it should be better still. That's the real advantage I've noticed. People who're far away and stuff? It's not much of a competitive advantage there. Unless of course counter-strike with 128-tick servers.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

yup

Yes, the screen is smoother, and allows me to make quick maneuvers lot easier then in 60hz

Yes

Does it help you if you are an amazing player? Yes. Will it make you better otherwise? No.

If you're not already really damn good at the game that you're playing then it won't make a huge difference. It also won't turn you into an amazing player.

Imagine doubling your awareness. . . Just kidding, but it's still really good.

If your rig can handle it, 1440p seems like a better option to me. ASUS announced the MG279Q at the beginning of the month, a 1440p 120Hz IPS monitor. which supports FreeSync with your 290X, so even if you can't get 144fps all the time that will compensate pretty well for it. It'll launch at $600 which is expensive but pretty fair considering the only 1440p 144Hz monitor currently available (the PG278Q) launched at $800 with a TN panel and G-SYNC. This basically upgrades to an IPS panel and drops $200 in price for it, not a bad deal. Of course switching G-SYNC for FreeSync is the main reason for that drop, but you have an AMD card so it's a good trade for you anyway. The only issue with that monitor is that it probably won't release for few months, lol.

Yeah, 1440p is expensive in general. 120Hz/144Hz on 1440p will cost a lot. 1080p 144Hz is still pretty good, so the VG248QE is a fine option as well if the price of 1440p is more than you're willing to spend on a monitor.

In your opinion do you think 1440p is worth the money?
