Can I have some help please?

So, my system was working fine yesterday when I assembled it. But when I put my new GPU in it (about 30 mins ago), it has been playing up ever since.

 

My board is the ASRock Z97 Extreme4. 

 

I have tried using the on-board GPU of my 4690k and still nothing. it just keeps alternating between these 3 error codes

 

D7 - check peripherals (done that, unpluged my mouse)

99 - Check PCIe Devices (done that, I have unpluges my gpu, wireless card and sound card, I have even put my old working gpu back in the system and it still wont post)

64 - Clear the CMOS (Done that as well, multiple times) I have even resorted to switching BIOS chips but as soon as I press the power switch, the system just crashes.

 

I'm thinking my new GPU has caused this issue, trouble is, I don't know what the actual issue is.

I have checked all the cables, everything is fine so I don't think it could be that.

 

Have I got a dead motherboard? If so, should I return it to the seller on Amazon or do I open up an RMA with ASRock?

It could be a dead motherboard, those things happen to every model.

Don't know how RMA works in the UK, my guess would be amazon.

I've never dealt with ASRock, but Amazon will definitely deal with it for you. It's probably also quicker and easier to use Amazon. Corsair is the only one that I go straight to the manufacturer for because they're amazing!

I have just ordered a refund from Amazon for the board as I have decided to choose a different brand. Thanks for all your help people.

In the meantime, did you look for a new BIOS update? My ASRock board came out of the box unable to recognize any PCI-E slot past PCI-E 1. Flashed the BIOS and everything is fine.

I didn't try that as I didn't want to mess the board up anymore than it was at the time. But I am happy to report, the board has started working again, and I am currently using it. But the question is, for how long will it stay working for?

Got it running with the new 970. It is a great overclocker, just ran valley and saw it boost to over 1500mhz, without any tweaking from me. The only issue I have found so far with it, is it coil whines like a b**ch at anything higher than the refresh rate of my monitor.

I noticed my 780 used to do this, well maybe it still does and I can't hear it anymore. Glad to hear everything is working fine!
