How To Turn Off Notifications to Upgrade to Android 5.0?

I know that a lot of you guys will be like, "but it's such a good os!" I know, but from what I've seen and heard, it has quite a few bugs that need to be ironed out, and those bugs are no acception on the Moto X.

I also don't want the graphical change from black to white. Using a phone with an AMOLED screen would be a waste.

I do plan on upgrading, just when some of the bugs are worked out and if someone finds a way to change all the white. Launcher can only do so much.

Maybe force stop the "update" app from the settings/app panel?

Requires root. All known methods appear to require root.

Is there any way of doing it without rooting? From what I've read up and friends who have rooted their devices, it voids the warranty, and I still want my warranty.

I think there is no real way to turn it off, just have to live with it, may I ask why don't you want to update? Nvm.
