HD mounted to the case

Since I need to get rid of the HD cages, to fit water cooling, so do I need to find somewhere else to mounted my HD's.

 

So I'm wondering if there are any drawbacks to just simply making a few holes in the case and mounting the HD straight onto the cage.

 

Like this, but without the braket to hold it.

I guess vibration sounds, but otherwise, as long as you do it properly, it should be fine

If you use some sort of rubber to dampen the vibration it should be fine! Just watch out for the board on the back of the drive not touching any case parts!

The electronics on the harddrive shouldnt touch any parts of the case. But thats something you already know I guess.

Yeah, that I know. So I will just put in a few mm of plasting ring (on the screw) between the case and the hd, so will I solve vibration and prevent damage, at the same time.

Use something like rubber, plastic may not damp them good enough.
