If it's the same socket, it'll work. What board are you going to be using? And with what CPU?

I would look for Z87/Z97 mainboard, so you would be able to upgrade to an i7-4790K, or if you choose Z97 also to the upcoming i7-5xxxK generation.

It's LGA 2011-3.

non-K CPUs would work as well.

1 quick question regarding the motherboard. I have 2 pre installed fans on my case. 1 in the front and 1 in the back. The question is can i hook up a 3 pin connector to a 4 pin connector and have it still work or not ?

Yes, you can plug a 4 pin in a 3 pin and vice versa, you just won't be able to use PWM to control the fan speeds. (You can still control them, but less 'sophisticated' as Linus says

Yes, the 4th pin is PWM control, so your motherboard can control the speed of the fan based on temperature.

If your fan is only 3pin, it will just run full speed unless you connect it to a voltage fan controller or put an inline resistor to slow it down :)

Well will it make more noise if i cant control it. If so i dont care because my 360 sounds like a airplane and im ok with it. Aslong as i have some good headphones on.

Yes, it'll work just fine. The extra pin is for PWM control.
