Having an arguement with a friend

Which board would you trust to OVERCLOCK...idc if their different sockets/cpus

http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product/Product_Detail.aspx?DetailID=1536&CategoryID=1&MenuID=172&LanID=0

Id say the asrock, for the better vrm and I can't trust ECS worth a damn

Current Build: Desk

My case is my most expensive part

Its Almost 2015 and I don't have an SSD

The Asrock :) ECS is cheap OEM shit. However the ECS is a Z chipset so it should overclock no problem. Haven' used ecs for 8 years so can't say that for sure.

Ew, ECS.

ASRock > generic boards.

That's my answer, by the way. :)

But would you trust your overclock at above 4.0? Im currently running 4.5ghz with a 750k, on the asrock board

I don't know about the power phases on that board but since it has a overclockable compatible chipset it should but keep in mind it's a totally different socket/ architecture so it also depends on what cpu.

The ECS mobo has no VRM cooling, do not overclock with it.

The 3 phase non-cooled VRM on my P5K is unable to let me get more than a 250MHz overclock because it overheats and can not supply enough power (Xeon X5450). The 6 phase on the ASrock is cooled, delivers more power and will have few if any issues with overheating.

That wouldn't be a good idea  but why would you get such a cheap pos Z chipset board?

He got a fancy mobo but it was doa and so he returned it and got the ecs

THANK YOU. haha I won! :P
