The Intel wins this battle hands down

FX4300 has no chance if even fighting back

and the mobo you chose for the AMD is a crappy mobo

do note that for the B85 mobo to accept your 4460

you may need a BIOS update

I have to agree personally I think if you are planning to get a high end gpu go with the Intel but if you are going to stick with the 260x get a i3

If I were you I'd grab an Intel G3258 and a much better GPU. You could always upgrade the CPU later on and a better GPU now will be beneficial.

Uhh no. G3258 with a good GPU will cause lots of stuttering issues in newer titles.

This.

Sell your GPU and run your Pentium off of onboard for awhile. Get yourself a 970 later. Done.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Also note Pentium onboard is pretty horrible. It's a cut-down version of Intel's standard HD Graphics and performs quite poorly compared to even HD 4400.

An overclocked G3258 with a good GPU get's usually 60 fps and keeps up with an i5 in most cases. Hell, I get 60 fps in some games with a G3220. Besides the Pentium is just there until he can get his hands on a better CPU in the future.

I did say to get a decent GPU after awhile though. The onboard will be able to handle web browsing or other basic stuff.

This would be a more fair comparison, as the APU and R7 250 would work together to produce okay results.

CPU: AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88M EXTREME4+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard  ($74.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($54.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R7 250 1GB Video Card  ($87.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: be quiet! Silent Base 800 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($119.99 @ NCIX US)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $934.75

It is for a gaming build, and who knows when he'll have enough for a 970. Stuff's expensive  in Australia

Poor Australia. Horrible internet, things are expensive, spiders and kangaroos everywhere - tough life one must lead up North (see wat I did there because Australia is all like upside down and stuff... kill me now).
