NTFS Compression on OCZ Vertex 4

compuwise

On spin drives (IDE, SATA, ATA) I have always avoided file compression as it seems to work the drive too hard and they die at the worse time. Since SSDs are relatively smaller capacity than platter drives, would it benefit me to compress the drive?

It depends on what kind of files you're storing. pretty much any kind of media, be it games, movies etc are already compressed, so there's little point making your cpu do more work to write these files to the drive.

I tried it both ways and did not notice a difference.  I went back to NOT using compression.  I think that is safer for the drive.
