Cpu going insanley high

Go to solution Solved by OCing Noob,

Hey, I recently bought a new chassi " Fractal design r5 " to get some more airflow in my chassi. Everything was running extremley smooth until some days ago when i checked hwmonitor to see all tempratures. I relised that my cpu was going around 90-100C (202F) what do you guys think could be the problem.

My specs

AMD A8- 5600K

NVIDIA GeForce Gtx 650 2GB

ASRock FM2A75M

Samsung Evo 840 120GB

8 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3

Stock amd 5600k cooler

Fractal design r5

At 45% load 90C means.

1. your thermal paste is not applied or dried off.

2. CPU heatsink is not seated correctly so heat spreader is is not in contact.

3. your Software is giving your false readings.

4. your OS have some kind of malware in it which is putting your CPU on 45% load for the long time and its getting heat.

5. Heatsink is not clean and air is not going through that properly

6. fan blades are dirty and not throwing air correctly .

7. your case dose not have better air flow

8. you have opened up all overs so may be air pockets are there in your PC.

9. CPU's TMI is done.

10. CPU is faulty or sensors are not working correctly.

Check all these and if problem remains the same then tell us.

Thanks

If you are talking about Define R5 it does not have the best airflow...

Why is your CPU at 45%?  What programs are you running?

That is hot even for 45% usage.  Reseat the CPU cooler (change thermal paste)?..  dust maybe?

i've changed chassi, so i have renewed all thermal paste, dust is also gone. Pretty much new built. Spotify, 3 google chrome tabs Skype. Razer synapse and nvidia experience was also running in the background

EDIT: right now google chrome is the only program open bounching around 40-50% usage

Check simple things like fans and if the heatsink is properly seated.

i've checked these thing and trying to remove it and move it back again didnt work though.

Stock cooler I assume....does not matter anyway, too hot even at stock...

Make sure you use good thermal paste, and you said you did it already but... Remove the heatsink, clean it and reapply thermal paste.

I actually bought a Be Quiet shadow rock slim, but didnt fit cause i have high profile ram ( I know my bad was too lazy to check) so i have the thermal paste from that cooler. I've cleaned the whole computer a several times.

If you remove a heatsink, always clean/reapply the thermal paste.

I don't know what else to say...

Check to see that your fans are blowing air the right way.

You can't have your CPU that hot.  Another thing, somewhat related:  Remove any of the hard drive cages that you don't need.  I took both of mine out for better airflow.

...and just put the fan on a pull configuration.  Then it won't interfere with the RAM.  Do you have all 4 RAM slots filled?

AMDs FM2 temp sensors are plain BROKEN. Do not panic yet.

The best way is to leave your UEFI open for 10 minutes and check the CPU temp reading reported in the UEFI.

1. The thermal paste is applayed correctly.

2. I've tryed to remove the heatsink and then put i back again, didnt see any diffrence

3. Don't have acces to my computer atm will tomorrow though, but i've checked multiple programs and getting around the same ( not 100% sure yet )

4. This one could actually be the problem.. A while ago i got a virus that opend alot of cmd which caused the computer to crash, i had Hard time removing it so i made a full system restore. I had a external hdd plugged in to the computer, but as soon as i realized that i had a virus on my computer i plugged it out. About a month ago i plugged the hdd back again ( I though the hdd have viruses in it ) I didnt find any diffrence sound/heat/%-usage wise. Maybe this could have something to do with my cpu.

5. I cleaned the whole system before i changed chassi.

6. ^^

7. I've removed 2 cages and the dvd thing ( cant remember what its called ) i also have an mini itx motherboard and fairly good cable manegment.

8. Dont really understand these two questions sorry :) running through this kind of fast dont have very much time :) Atleast i answer as muhäch as i could :). ( 8n9)

9. ^

10. Probably this one or 4.

Have an continuously nice day/night!

The virus is still there i bet coz i've been through this situation while ago . install Microsoft Security Essentials and scan whole system after scaning if any virus found put actoin in "Remove" from drop down and remove all.do not disinfect . Scan the HDD too.

TIM means Thermal interface meterial. sorry i miss typed as TMI.  Overs=covers . opening all overs of casing may case air pockets inside the pc and that is not good for airflow around compnants.  There are sensors inside every CPU for Thermal reading and other things to monitor . sometimes sensors don't work properly and give you false readings high of lower then actual. that may be the case too. but if everything esle is ok then i'm afraid CPU is not in good health.

Thanks and same to you :)

AMD sockets have issues reading temperatures when not under any load (mine reads 9C when idle which is 6C colder than my ambient) but once it get s a little load you notice the temp instantly jumps 20C...when under any load the temp reads proper, its when idle that the temps are screwey for the most part.

I am going to say virus as well...run a few AV programs (windows defender, AVG, AVAST (best free ones)) as one might not pickup all the viruses. My parents got bit by a virus which did something similar

Afterwards try running ccleaner and malwarebytes. Everything comes up clean...then least you ruled all this out

Run a full scan of your system using malwarebytes and ESET online full scan.

Check your startup services and programs.

Try purchasing a new cooler. What thermal paste are you using?

What's your CPU usage at with zero programs running?

I do know that stock cooler sucks balls. It shouldn't reach that temp though.

As other stated above, might be a temp reading issue.

Try touching the cooler?
