Absolute cheapest m-atx case

Go to solution Solved by ZetZet,

n200, cougar spike are pretty good, maybe rosewill line-m

Two friends recently asked me if i could build them both pc's with a budget around $300 each. I'm looking to finalize details with them, like if they need an optical drive, but in the meantime I'm trying out different configurations on pcpartpicker. A logical starting point would be the case, so I've started my quest for an ultra budget m-atx case. The only requirements is essentially to be made out of some type of metal and to support a ~200mm (7.87 inch) graphics card with the drive bay installed (If it has one - I am very flexible in the specifics). These "requirements" are honestly quite flexible, so even these are more like guidelines. I'd be willing to compromise these "guidelines" when the price gets below 30 dollars. My friends are not tech enthusiasts, so sacrificing features that I would consider essential, like usb 3, is fine. Also, just for reference, I am currently looking at using a 250X or 260X for graphics. I know that normally this wouldn't be possible for $300 but I plan on trying to find a motherboard with support for sodimm modules, since I have a lot of unused sodimm memory. Thanks for the replies in advance.

why dont you create a thread in build planning asking for $300 builds :) instead of making multiple threads asking multiple questions :)

There are 2-3 $ computer cases out there if you want the cheapest one, just look at your local computer store those cases are everywhere. Something i would use though is a nzxt source 210 that case is great if you are on a budget.

Seems to me like the features of the NZXT 210 really justify the price. Thanks.

An matx case would be more suitable due to better airflow with less distance air needing to travel before it's cycled.

Get a cm n200. had this case, it's awesome for that money. it has lots of the top end stuff allthough it's so small. it also has space for two fans in the front, 1 back, 1 top, so lots of cooling for a powerful small rig. No unecessary large HDD cages. Cable management is a challange but doable. I'd recommend a modular PSU or you'll shoot yourself. :D been there, done that.

who cares...

at a $300 budget I really don't think heat will be a problem :P
