New loop!

Go to solution Solved by Scia,

Hello!

Before we begin specs are in the sig.

My b'day is coming up and I have decided to get a custom loop.

The case is going to change to a Enthoo Primo from Phanteks.

Now 3 questions -

1. Whats the best pump that is fast and reliable (No budget)

2. Does a better reservoir improve performance? If so, what will be a high-end one?

3. I know the Primo supports two 240 rads, one 140 and two 480's. I originally planned just the two 480's, now, if I fill all the rads and put a block on the VRM, NB, SB and RAM, Do I really need a intake and outake?

1. D5 pumps are probably as good as it gets [doesn't really matter which vendor, I am using an Alphacool one, although they varry in price]

2. No, it really doesn't matter, although I'd suggest a tube one, as bay ones are a bitch to fill and bleed.

3. Not sure what you're saying, though, a drain port is always nice to have [i'm still cursing myself everytime I drain the loop]

I can also tell you to stay the fuck away from the Phobya UC2-LT and similar stuff, bursted twice [the plastic block shielding] and leaked.

AquaComputer probably makes some of the most highquality blocks you can get your hands on.

EK stuff is horrible, had my GPU blocks corrode, while my AquaComputer stuff, which was in there for the same amount of time, shined as if I had just unpacked it.

Colored coolant is a nightmare to change / maintain / switch. I'd go for DI water.

RAM cooling is simply for the looks, no actual need, so if you were thinking about it for performance reasons, don't.

@Scia , Thx for the info.

For number three I ment if I have all the fan postions mounted with radiators and no fans actually doing air cooling, will some parts heat?

The only fan I am using which is not attached to a rad is the back fan as an intake in order to get positive air pressure within my case.

[3 intake front, 3 exhaust top, 1 intake back].

The air goes through the rads, so there will be airflow within the case. Usually you don't have to worry about that.

1. AlphaCool D5 Pump with HF Top

2. No, they do not. However larger reservoirs means for a larger excess supply of water which in theory will last longer. (Cause water evaporates)

So its okay if I have the back fan as intake and a front 240 rad? Plus do you thing 2 x 480 rads and 1 x 240 is overkill for my specs?

1x 480 would do fine, 2x480 will be enough to have your fans basically off =P

I'm using an 80mm 360 and a 60mm 360 rad for a 290x and a 5960x, and it's more than enough cooling.

So I'd not bother with a 240 along with 480s, [While 2x 480 is "too much" already, rather more than less, so I'd go with 2x 480 and be done with it]

Oh Ok, if I add another 290x in the future, will it still be enough?
