But I must brag about how EVGA support seems so far, phone support at 10am EST Sunday?  Check.  RMA authorized in less than an hour after first phone call.

How card failed:  During boot up the signal drops to monitor and fan goes FULL bore.  Installed card in a second PC eliminating any other issues with this system.  Last night was playing a game, no artifacts or other  issues.. Just died in its sleep I guess.

Sadly, I don't have the spare $300 to do a cross ship, so slow boat for me.

Now if they manage to slip me a 670 instead of the 660ti, I'll suck someones toes at EVGA.  jk...

Should I put my old 8800 GTS in or roll with the Ivy Bridge 4000HD, which allows only Min lighting and medium settings in SimCity without going all slideshow on me.

I can't remember the last video card that actually failed on me, maybe a nvidia 6800.

From what I've experienced, EVGA has fantastic customer service. To each his own, I guess.

I'm fairly sure that fellow was trolling, or just being sarcastic.  Any company that has 24/7 support with what seemed like a American answering the phone is OK by me.

I have a 660TI I'm not using. If you lived in Canada, I would've considered selling it to you.

Not buying cards, just posting about the great service so far from EVGA.  Not that I wanted to experience it, but chose them over other brands mainly for the warranty.  Not to mention Jacob (forum rep from EVGA) hooked me up with a copy of Borderlands 2 when they really didn't have to.

On another note, I tried using the 8800 GTS 320MB, and I guess since 2007 many games just choke on that low a memory.  So I jacked the 5770 out of my wife's computer, she cried "But Sims3 xpack coming out", I replied, it'll run fine on the 8800 GTS 320MB.

  • 2 weeks later...

Update: EVGA received my card 7/2/13 and said immediately it was Next Step: Preparing to Ship Product.  Well its the weekend and its still Pending (7/6/13), so will most likely miss next weekend because of ground shipping as well even if they ship on Monday.

I was hoping for the 1-3 day turnaround I had read somewhere (I think on their site when I filed the RMA).

Sucks to be poor!

Got my RMA card today, while it does seem to work so far, 3 things about its appearance I didn't care for:

1)  The bracket was bent and initially wouldn't fit into the case, which was awkward because it kinda wedged itself with the PCI express card lock.

2)  One of the screw heads is almost totally stripped, I assume from when they 'repaired' the card.  I worked in electronics, you don't strip screws and return something to the customer, its a penny, just replace the screw.

3)  Scratches on the cooler, I know this should rate as minor, but I sent them a new condition card that failed electronically, I get back one that looks like what an ex-gf does to your car door.

I can't deal with being without a card again for 3 weeks, so just hoping it holds together.

I would contact EVGA about this and they might work something out with you by replacing the card that you have now for a better condition one.

Turns out I'm having issues with the card they sent me.  Not the same issue, however EVGA of course is acting like its a problem with my system.

I checked the original card in a second PC before sending it back to them with the same failure, so I was 100% confident it was the card.

This RMA card is freezing in Windows, locking up in BF3.

I'm just tired of messing with this.  I ran the same system with the 5770 for 3 weeks playing games and had no issues, outside of poor FPS.

I understand this can happen with electronics, the painful part is the 2 weeks shipping time (and $13 each time).  Quicker shipping doubles the price.

I might consider an extended warranty next time, so I can just bring it back to Microcenter.

It sound like you've had a horrible experience with this EVGA product so far... If I were you I would never buy anything of theirs again if they have treated me like this. Hardware does fail, but they should take care of the customer!

I would try an older Nvidia driver if you have old installations of drivers in the C:/Nvidia because the new Nvidia drivers are a bit buggy.

I had a fan issue on my 660 Ti Signature 2 FTW and they sent me a reference 670. I didn't like how noisey it was so I asked them to send me back a 660 Ti. The service rep was confused at first but after I explained the situation he understood and cross shipped the 660 Ti for free. Great service and friendly people that I can understand which makes them the best in my book.

Of course someone would be happy if they upgraded a 560ti->660ti for free, I paid $250 for a 560ti then $300 for the 660ti in about a years time, then sold the 560ti for $100.

They do the upgrades because they basically run out of RMA stock, its not the kindness of their hearts.

They aren't being nasty with me, they are following their rules, I asked for a free cross ship because I don't have $300 to have locked up on a credit card for weeks, I was told no, that's not something they can do.  However, they DID give me a free return shipping label which was decent of them.

As for drivers, I installed the current, but I read about all the problems and rolled back to 314.22.  BF3 and SImCity 2013 both hard locked my system requiring me to hit the reset button, and had some desktop corruption at one point, a diagonal box pattern.

I'm now running an 8800 GTS 320, and as I stated a ATI 5770 for 3 weeks while waiting on the RMA.  I don't overclock, I don't believe my PSU is failing, I think the 660 and the 5770 draw about the same amount of juice, I didn't confirm that tho.

If the next RMA has a problem, I'll put the blame onto me and go from there.  However, both my issues were different.
