it is safe to max out my memory voltage?

i have a sapphire 280x btw, and input your overclocked memory numbers too if you dont mind (so i know some bases)

Overclocking VRAM doesn't affect in-game FPS. Keep it at stock speed because if you overclock memory it will just increase heat output with no feasible performance increase.

Oh hell yes it does in any game that likes having VRAM to use (looking at gaming at 8x AA with modded textures skyrim hmmmm?)

I always recommend doing a memory overclock, just not an extreme one and I wouldn't overvolt the memory.

The only games where it will have a benefit on are when you're really raping the VRAM. And in reality that's only modded Skyrim, so shouldn't use that as an example of "VRAM overclocking provides a big benefit" because it's the only scenario. And when it gets to the point where you need to OC VRAM to get modded Skyrim to run well, 3GB of 280X won't be enough anyways.

well that depends i know from experience that low end cards benefit from both core and vram overclocks. but this isnt a low end card in question and the stock memory bandwidth on that card is more than adequate for any games these days.

Going from 1400MHz to 1635MHz memory on my R9 270 gives me ~5-7 more fps in Assetto Corsa at 4k. The difference at 1080p is probably minimal though (haven't tested)

RIP in pepperonis m8s

Titanfall insane textures (3515MB usage here), ANY game coming out that has a higher texture option (looking at Shadow of mordor). The heat it outputs is not so much an issue so I would just do it anyway

Overclocking ram has very very little impact on things, small enough that it will really only show in benchmarks, not in real life usage.

over the years I've found that vram modules are one of the weaker links as far as over clocking. want to kill your card quick.......... try it.  over clock the cards processor for better overall results without messing with the voltage and see how far you get.
