Hello! I keep my eye on this part of the forum and must say, I love everything I read! So I thought I'd like to share a current build that I've saved my money from working the past year. I'd like to start off by telling you why I built this computer and what I plan on adding. I don't have a name for this build, my friend told me to call it something between the lines of Corsair and MSI, I swear I don't love them....

So as a first computer build, I never bought everything all together, it was just adding onto what I had already bought. I first started out with a new PSU and Graphics card (old CPU/Mobo in new case) which was the Corsair CX600M and Sapphire HD 7850 (100 GBP on Ebay! I felt like I found a great deal).

Skipping most of the story part for those who don't like reading, I bought another new case about 3-4 months ago... The Corsair 330R, old Mobo died so I thought I'd just do a better upgrade and that's when I bought a few more items together...

Build Specs:

Intel i5-4690K (4.6ghz @ 1.279v)

Corsair H100i

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard

Kingston 1333mhz Ram**

MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

Corsair RM850 PSU

Corsair 330R

WD 1TB x2 7200RPM

Samsung 840 Evo 250gb

**The RAM is the most horrible part of the build.. YES I AM buying better, it's horrible how I've managed to not buy better ram... Kill me, please.

Planned Upgrades:

3x Acer K242HL 24" (I bought 1, and I love it...)

Another MSI 970 for the Surround Setup

Maybe another SSD @ 500GB to store my Orchestra Samples for Music...

**If you use EWQL or Kontakt with Composition, the SSD loading speeds for the samples are just time saving...**

Better RAM by next month ;)

Maybe if Broadwell is compatible with Z97, I'll get an i7... East West PLAY engine hates my i5...

New Mouse Mat

New DESK (Pictures show wood that's been picked off from my nephew!)

Here are some pictures which are not the best of quality. I don't have a good camera, and it looks dusty at some parts... Need to get the air compressor out and spray spray spray!

WARNING: My cable management was not how I planned because I'm giving this case to a friend soon, so the next case will look more neat ;P

A bit about some pictures:

I had sleeved the CPU 4+4 and 24 ATX myself, although I ran out of sleeve so 1 wire on the ATX isn't sleeved (ERgggg!). I want to resleeve them as I feel I can do better now, everything was improvised and I had no measuring tools... Just some scissors and a lighter. xD

The Cable Management isn't up to the standards I'd like it to be because this case is going to a friend of mine, and I'm planning on buying a different case. I'm open to opinions..

and I swear.... I don't like MSI or Corsair.. I swear..... ;)

I still need to sleeve the GPU cables, Sata connectors/power and I might not bother with fans. I personally hate the way the PCIE cable 8 pin to 8pin + 6+2pin... I'm actually thinking of buying a seperate 8pin and 6pin cable extension already sleeved Black/Red and connect it round the back of the case..

I would also prefer a PSU shroud to hide those cables at the bottom, I have liked the look of the H440 Red/Black but as I've mentioned, I'm open to opinions.

Why buy 'x'?

I would like to add as much detail in my post, so I am thinking of some questions I may receive...

I would like to buy an i7 because I do a lot of composition work, I've seen around about the EWQL Play Engine being a pain in the ass, my i5 currently is alright with it but as time is going on, projects getting bigger with more instruments and other libraries adding in the Cubase project like 10 different Kontakt libraries, EWQL running instances of Hollywood Strings/Brass, RA, Pianos etc...

The SSD was incredible when I installed my first library for Kontakt which was the 8DIO Adagio Strings and wow... I've never felt impressed for loading times with samples like it before... So I'd like to get myself another SSD to put some more of my libraries on. It would be good to put all my 8DIO libraries on it but I just have a few games on it which I don't want to move.

16 Gigs of RAM has been recommended to me for projects with big templates e.g EWQL, Multiple Kontakt Libraries (Cinesamples, 8dio etc...) Although I am perfectly fine with the rate I'm working at but I feel my projects are going to be bigger in the future.

The 3 Monitors will also be used outside the Gaming part, I'd like to have multiple screens with audio work because I find opening everything like the Audio FX, Mixer's, Automation's etc.. just fills my screen (and other small one) up...

The Desk I plan on buying/making would be perfect to me if it were to fit a sliding desk in the middle for the keyboard and, when I am composing... Slide it under to reveal the piano I normally use in my work.

I'd like to update more, if you have a question, feel free to ask! I hope the quality of images and cable management doesn't burn your eyes! (or my first 'interesting' post..) ;)

I pretty sure the RAM are not in the correct slot

it should be either

RAM, Empty , RAM , Empty

or

Empty, RAM, Empty, RAM

and nothing wrong with 1333MHz RAM

just OC them to 1600MHz

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The only problem I had with the MSI gaming 5 mobo, when running the RAM in dual channel mode, it goes retarded and my computer randomly shuts down once a month...

I was thinking the H440 or 750D, but I'll need to see the build in the case to see if I like it :P
