Intel i5 4690 & Gigabyte Z97-D3H

TheDylinTech

I'm ready for the second part of upgrading my new computer and have settled on this cpu and motherboard:

Intel i5 4690 - http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i5-4690-Processor-Cache-BX80646I54690/dp/B00JST2QEW/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1420768822&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=i5+4690

Gigabyte Z97-D3H - http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-1150-Express-Motherboard-GA-Z97-D3H/dp/B00K2RQDLQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420768902&sr=8-1&keywords=Gigabyte+Z97-D3H

Just wondering if they'll work together. If not, what 2 parts will? My budget is around $450 AUD.

The biggest bottleneck is the Aussie internet..

Yes, they'll work together. Do you want to overclock?

Id'e not waste the Locked multiplier of the 4690 on a Z97... Either go with a "K" series CPU, or get a H97 Board.

They'll work together, but the CPU will not be overclockable.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

It should work, it might need a bios update though.

Just looked, and it will work.

Yeah I just want the features of the z97 board and future upgrade for overclocking.

Edit: Also I really don't want to overclock considering CPU's in Australia get ridiculously hot even at stock.

What does this mean? Will I have to do this on another computer?

Do you know what the BIOS is? You won't need to do an update though. The first release BIOS(F4) will work fine with the 4690 if the board comes with that.

No, I don't know the bios of the board but maybe you can read this? http://www.gigabyte.com.au/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4961#sp

I do agree with the others that a 4690K is bit more expensive that the 4690. You could also keep it at stock till you feel comfortable overclocking it.

Secondly, Have you taken a look at Gigabytes Z97X SLI board?, it's cheaper has many of the same features and also has SLI, if you decide to go team green.

I am team Red: Sapphire R9 290

Edit: For me the Z97X SLI is more expensive.
