Okay so my PC has been doing this for a while now and its getting to the point where I feel like taking a hammer to it.

On occasion i'll just be say browsing the web, flicking through twitter. Stuff like that and my mouse will completely stop working, so I have to unplug the mouse and plug it back in to get it working again. I do not have this issue with any other USB device, just the mouse. The mouse is a R.A.T 3 Cyborg gaming mouse.

But what is mostly confusing for me is on some occasions where the cursor will stop moving the computer will completely reset itself as if I hit the reset button on my PC. No BSOD, nothing although after starting back up Windows gives me a notification stating that I had a Blue screen of death but with no reason or error description. I am totally confused and I am not running an overclock, using BIOS default and have made sure the RAM is running in the correct timings also.

I am literally stumped.

I have never experienced this issue during gaming however! I'd show the BSOD report file but I can't remember how to find it.

That's the thing though. I don't think its the mouse's fault as I can have it plugged into my laptop for pretty much all day out the house and nothing happens but as soon as I plug it into my main rig everything goes tits up.

It will probably best if we start with the basics:

1. What are your PC specs?

2. What version of Windows are you using?

Are you overclocked?

Are your temps reasonable?

Follow this guide to enable Driver Verifier, A word of caution I would create a system restore point prior to attempting this.

Not overclocked at all no and the temps are totally reasonable. They are no where near max. Highest it ever hits is about 50 degrees and thats only when I play heavy intensive games like Crysis or BF3.

EDIT:

Just done what you asked and it didn't do anything, the windows loading animation showed up and then after that it sat on a black screen and did completely nothing. I hard reset and boot up into safe mode, safe mode works. This is how I am typing this.

EDIT2: Here is the memory dump files as suggested on the driver verifier page. http://www.mediafire.com/?98rq3m8odl51qwf

Well DV is resource intensive so just let it do it's job for a while not in safe mode.

Okay well it really didn't seem to be doing much and I did get a dump file. Although could that of been because I hard reset my PC.

Okay so I think I know what my problem is, apparently since my motherboard doesn't really have headsinks on the mosfets and its a 4-1 motherboard they great really hot and cause my CPU to eventually throttle. So I did a little DIY until I can afford to replace the motherboard to something better, I got my old AMD CPU cooling fan and pointed it at the mosfets and they are much cooler now unlike before where if I touched them they would actually burn my fingers. Throttling happens less often, I got through a cinebench test without it throttling to 1.4GHz. And as of so far my computer hasn't reset on me or anything strange like that.

Well in that case you should reset driver verifier.

Run> Verifier> Delete existing settings> ok> reboot.
