say i bought a GPU clocked at 1000mhz,

Then i overclocked it to 1200mhz,       would i see a noticeable performance difference, is it worth the heat

Then i took it to 1400mhz,         Would it scale the same as 1000 to 1200

not exactly how it will scale that way

first heat will be the first thing you will encounter

when the GPU hits the thermal limit, the GPU will throttle back and GPU clockspeed will drop way below

For gaming, fps tends to scale more quickly with more clock speed.

Whether the heat is worth the performance difference is up to you.

That´s depending on more influences. But most important part is the ASIC and the archtitecture of the GPU. And then what your cooling solution is. You need always to find a way to dissipate the heat according to your OC otherwise your OC won´t be stable or you´ll get thermal throttling of the chip.

The scaling of just increasing the core clock speed depends on the chip, driver, application.
