Nvidia GTX 980

Hi there everyone so I've strated a build a few months back and I'm looking to get the GTX 980 for my build I'm currently running an i7 4790k watercooled by H80i, AMD Radeon HD 7950, 32GB DDR3 1866MHz Ram, 1000wat EVGA psu so to really complete the build is to get a gpu that is the best out the but best for the price, I know a lot of people been saying the 970 is the best for the price but I'm looking for something that will give me the best performance with just one card I have been looking around on Scan.co.uk for these cards finding loads of different brands but can't really figure out which to buy, I've been mainly focused on the EVGA Superclocked 980 which is one that I was defeinaitly thinking about getting but looking at the price of it was real high compared to others such as MSI Gigabyte Zotac, Palit and a few others the only thing different between these cards are t he price and the clock speed but how much difference does that make if i'm buying a cheaper card will it perform the same as a higher priced card? that is my question to you guys.

There's not much difference between them really. The Gigabyte G1 is the best performing, but I would say to just go for the one you like the looks of most, or the cheapest, they're all good.

only difference in cost is due to cooler/pcb.

some are better than others.

i suggest 2 970 over 1 980, the price to performance is far better, a 980 is only about 10-15% better, a diffrence that can be gained by overclocking

 

the only thing i ask is what case and mobo do you have

The price itself won't tell you how good a card performs.

I can definitly recommend EVGA, but also Gigabyte. Gigabyte's cooler is probably even better. I've a G1 980 myself.
 
Zotac, Palit and all the others will probably also be good, but no one really knows as there aren't that many reviews out yet about those cards and they're not that popular.

I would go for the gigabyte gaming g1 980, as would a lot of other people. The asus strix is also a good option. If you don't care too much about looks than go with the g1. Best performing one out of the bunch. Fan isn't the quietest but still quieter than the reference cooler.

10-15 % better is alot when it comes to fps tho

not really, its only about 7 fps in some games, others 20, and you can get 10-15% by overclocking

 

plus 2 970 is still about 90% better than 1 980 for arround the same price
