So, I've been looking for a monitor to go along with my new PC, and my eyes fell upon the 25" 2560x1080 LG 25UM55.

I've been reading up on the aspect ratio, but my question is, since I'll be using this for gaming as well as productivity, I want to hear what you guys think, is it a hassle to game on 21:9? Do many games need manual tweak to run at this aspect ratio ?

It's 1080p resolution at 21:9 aspect ratio so no, and for productivity and gaming you will LOVE it

I have a 29" lg one and i really like it most but not all game support the resolution. I would think 25" might be a little small though but that might just be my personal preference.

Most games can run at 21:9, but few of them actually support properly running at that aspect ratio. Most of them will have banding/stretching on the sides. A few might force you to run at 1080p with black bars.

I believe there's a widescreen forum out there.

My build: tis be ordered

I have a 29" one from AOC, so far haven't had any issues with it, all the games I've played (mostly AAA titles) work perfectly fine.

One thing though, I'm pretty sure you do not want anything under a 29" for 21:9

I've thought about going with one 34" 21:9 monitor multiple times, but I find I prefer two to three 16:9 monitors for productivity, they're really tempting though.

Yeah, a 25" 21:9 display is the same height as a 20" 16:9 monitor. ;)

and I think a 29" is the same height as a 23" iirc.

Correct! ;)

And a 34" 21:9 is the same height as a 27" display. :)

I figure, but the 29 " inch is a 100 euros cheaper, so I'm on the fence.

How are you liking your 21:9 29" LG monitor and which one do you have specifically (just curious)?

i have a LG 29EA93, and i love it for website design and as i only have a small space is makes up for not having 2 monitors, so i can run a game in windowed mode and watch a stream .. that kind of thing. Colours are great just find myself wanting a 2k or 4k monitor now though.

Sounds great! :)

I'm guessing you mean 2.5K or 4K monitor?

The reason I ask is because it's pretty much gives like this:

• 2K = 1920 x 1080

• 2.5K = 2560 x 1440

• 4K = 4096/3840 x 2160

You sound like you really like it though. It'd definitely be great for watching your usual 21:9 movie. :)

Yea thats what i meant :) most prob go with a 1440p for now and upgrade again once a 4k setup is more affordable. But yea my LG has been great.
