build idea

Go to solution Solved by Interfectorem,

Looks nice, although I would suggest switching the 840 EVO to the new 850 EVO, it should be around the same price. You could also maybe save a little on the motherboard, but a beast machine overall.

this is what ive got picked out for my build so far i want feedback on it cuz im not sure what will work well with what and im very new to the whole building process and when i do get to building it i wanna know what safety procedures to follow i have an anti static wrist strap are the effective?

Looks great. My only comment is that you don't need the Arctic Silver, as the H105 already has TIM applied to it (the stock stuff works wonders). Otherwise, you get two thumbs up from me - I had just about this exact build about two months ago and it was amazing.

Just touch a piece of exposed, unpainted metal every few minutes (opening up the bathroom cabinet and touching the drain pipe works for this) and don't build on carpet if you can avoid it.

Unless you're gonna go 32GB, 2x4GB now and 2x4GB later is just fine. When you build a computer, just be sure to touch the case every now and them to clear yourself of any static.

Take your time in building and double check all your connections. I would get a POST before putting everything into the case. You want to make sure all your stuff works before you spend a while with cable management and whatnot.

It ran great, beautifully. I had the Hero VII, the H105, the 4790K, the EVGA 750G2, and a reference GTX 980. My case and ram were different but those wont make a difference. You'll love it.

I love my Corsair K70 and I would fullheartedly recommend it. When building, I would just make you build away from carpet, as that can create some static, and build on a wooden surface with wooden or tile floors. Also, you can touch your case to discharge any static that you may have accumulated. I never used an anti-static wrist band and I've built two machines. I would personally get two sticks of 8GB right now just because you still have upgrading room, but if the cost is too much right now, it won't be a problem to add two more 4GB sticks later on to total to 16GB.

im just curious to as whats more efficient though with the ram having 4 sticks or 2 sticks or does that even make a difference?

I build on the motherboard box all the time, so do alot of Youtubers I watch. You don't really need an anti static mat, but if you have the money, then get one. I tend to over ground myself and touch metal every couple minutes. I have built on carpet before, you just need to be extra careful.
