Good video editing software (free/cheap)

I've lately been trying to develop my video editing skills but currently the only time I get to work on it is in a class I am currently taking. I would like to expand my skills to my own content but I first need some software to do so. I have very minimal income so as much as I'd like to get premiere I can not, so I am curious if anyone knows of free or cheap software that is reliable.

Isn't there a subscribtion model for adobe apps´?

Yeah, I agree, it works fine and it does the job, what I mean is that there is better free software out there

Yeah, I agree, it works fine and it does the job, what I mean is that there is better free software out there

most of the better software you have to pay for unless you want to illegally crack it...

 

WLMM is really good for quick editing of videos, since you can import and immediately render it, and transitions/effects are extremely quick and easy to apply

Lightworks for the advanced, OpenShot for everyone else.  Oh yeah, you'll have to load up a Ubuntu linux flavor to make them easy to get at, but at least everything is free and legal ;)
