Screen won't light up after waking up from sleep

Lenyd

Hello everyone

I built my gaming rig last year around August, and since then i've been experiencing an infuriating issue that forces me to hit the reset button every time.

Sometimes(not always) my monitor refuses to light up after waking up from sleep, the graphics card is simply not sending any information to the monitor

Every other component is working just fine, at least i think so, because sometimes if i leave a youtube video open before letting the computer go to sleep, and accidentally click the mouse, the video will continue playing with audio.

And every time when the monitor doesn't light up, i hear the same sound you hear when you eject/physically remove an USB drive.

My GTX 660ti from MSI has a blue light on the bottom, near the PCI bracket. When the card is up and running, it has a blue light. And when it's not, such as when my monitor doesn't light up, the light vanishes, and i don't think the fans would spin either(I'll check next time).

Maybe its because the graphics card isn't sending any information to either the monitor or the motherboard? The sound i usually hear should indicate the removal of a device

Please help guys, i've been having this problem for such a long time and im worried that repeatedly force-resetting a computer is harmful to the machine(is it?)

Here are my specs:

Define R4

Intel 3570k

Hyper 212

AsRock Extreme 4 Z77

MSI 660ti Twin Frozr 4

Seagate barracuda 1TB

PC Power & Cooling 750w Non-modular

Uninstall the drivers and do a clean install of them. May fix your issue - it also may be a Windows problem. A reinstall of Windows may solve the problem.
