it cheaper than a whole new GPU

It's barely a difference in performance really :/

What res are you going to be playing at? For 1080p there is no reason to upgrade from a R9 290X.

For 1440/4k/3-monitors-gaming, Another R9 290 should be more than enough, they go cheap for like $200.

might just do that then i think there is an offer right now for like 270 which is not horrible any ideas how xfire 290's perform?

Honestly, i'd go with the 295x2. Far much more horsepower than the 980. For a no holds bar gamer, the 295 is better, but if you're concerned with the powerbill going up a bit more, and want to run sli later for better performance, then get the 980.

There are tons of benchmarks around, it's a pretty good scaling.

The R9 290 Tri-X is $280 in Newegg, it also has a $20 MiR if you want to do it. There are cheaper but different cards on the same system look ugly lol.

if you were to get a 295 you can crossfire it with your 290

bad idea mate

the 290 will pull down the 295

290X is still ok

The Sapphire colors aren't really suited for my taste, but great cards nonetheless.

Edit: I suppose they could look great in certain color-schemed oriented builds...

sadly im building a red a black theme but I already have the paint ready.. planning on painting the inner part red  should look better :P
